Hi there, Sorry for the VERY late email...But I just wanted to thank you SO much for the beautiful cake you made for our daughters Christening. Mikaela's Godparents organised it all, and it brought tears to my eyes when i saw the perfect cake! You did an amazing job - It was such a difficult task to cut it up and serve it!! I have kept all the animals from the ark though - so Mikaela can see them when she grows up. I cant thank you enough for the wonderful job you did. It really made our day! Everyone was lost for words when they saw the cake, it was the highlight of our day! Thanks very much.

Some accounts say that during the 19th century, it was the custom to serve a christening cake following the birth of the first child. The idea of preserving the top tier of the wedding cake apparently grew out of this practice. It was a practical tradition that assumed the birth of the first child not long after the wedding. Gradually though, the gap of time between the wedding and the birth of the firstborn widened. At this point, the christening cake deferred to the concept of an anniversary cake that celebrated the wedding itself, and not a christening.
